Mediation & Conflict Resolution

Historically, conflicts have always been part of human existence. From the stone age to this century. We have seen it in our workplaces, between sovereignties, religions, and ethnicities. It is evidently represented in our world today. It is inevitable. It is going to happen whenever you have people with different expectations, opinions and background come together.

At the core of our commitment to sustainable security and peace at GlobalCops are alternative dispute measures aimed at not only building trust between conflicting parties by developing unofficial channels and spaces for dialogue but bringing these parties towards a mutually acceptable outcome.

Our mediation, negotiation, and dialogue approach produce peace processes that advance the development of sustainable solutions to conflict. In addressing the several peace process challenges such as the lack of channels and lack of trust between the conflicting parties, and limited capacity and inclusiveness of the various stakeholders. We believe that conflict can be avoided if steps are taken early in a discussion to diffuse anger and facilitate communication, and it can be resolved by applying a series of thoughtfully analytical steps.

At the GlobalCops, we have developed mediation models that enable States and individuals navigate through the tough peace terrain both during the conflict and post-conflict conditions. However, dialogues have proven to be the greatest source of bridging divides and bringing communities together to heal divisions and find lasting solutions to their conflict, after which we employ Negotiation which is a fundamental skill that is at the heart of most of GlobalCop’s conflict resolution interventions, peace processes, and training.

Some of our models and support includes long-term intervention addressing some of the systemic gaps in the international peace making system as well as on-demand operational support focusing on specific peace processes. Over the years, we have focused on bridging the gap between the parties to the conflict and connecting the nexus between the relevant principles and practices that could result in an effective mediation and conflict resolution outcomes to the specific political and societal processes of the country we are dealing with.

In doing so, we rely on the architecture that is already embedded in locally-led entities within the existing political systems. Our underlying assumption in this context is that to prevent and resolve conflicts, external mediators or peace processes must underscore the local values and systems, observe existing cultural underlining and societal practices, and as much as possible, ensure that the entire process is locally owned. The parties to the conflict must see the entire framework as their own.

We invite you to take advantage of our education and training on Alternative Dispute Measures and Conflict Analysis. We offer Summer Certificate Training for a range of stakeholders including civil society organizations, youth, and other key actors in conflict settings.
